In LA, dudes will ask you that as a compliment. I've seen chicks literally get wide open cuz a dude asked her what she was mixed with. Low self esteem like shyt.

I'm glad I'm dark skinned but I am part Cac and part East African. You can only see it in my hair texture

This shyt is so so so gross. People hate their blackness.

I don't ask because I got tortured as a kid when asked about some of my features. My grandmother used to let my hair grow out and it was apparently fascinating to her friends and other family members to see a black kid with with curly hair, defined eyebrows, long eyelashes with "china" eyes as they'd say back then in Charlotte.

The constant "Stella, he got them pretty white features like you." statements got tiring after awhile. My experiences would have me lean towards the shyt being c00nish tbh.

:merchant: This is horrible.

Colonization mindfukked us so good smh

Yes I think that's usually the implication behind the question b/c I don't look mixed. I try not to assume everyone thinks that way but I've had people just flat out say it. One guy said "You must be mixed b/c I have never been attracted to a BW before." :deadmanny: He was Black btw.

:what:

^this

I get asked the shyt maybe a gazillion times. My whole life. I'm not dark skinned or light I'm medium complexion I just have "that hair"...

I get asked this shyt by bytches and nikkaz and like my man said if the shyt stopped at "no" cool but these mfs wanna try and tell me I must be confused or misinformed or I'm lying.. Like they REFUSE to accept the fact that I'm not mixed. All the way up to my great great grands I'm afro american.

Another thing that I'm taken aback by is mfs expect you to take that question as a COMPLIMENT. Like you should feel good about the fact you have another race mixed in you other than black and they're waiting on you to say thank you for that dumb shyt.:beli:
I've had people literally say that out loud like "I meant it as a compliment" mf HOW???

MOST ANNOYING shyt IN THE WORLD

Color struck self-hating ass mofos

I don't think it's c00n status at all. I don't get the "are you mixed" question a lot though. I think folks look at me and can tell. When my hair was straight I got it way more often but since I've had my hair into a short fro style (for a good year now) for some reason I think it confuses people, especially the white folks here who've known me since I was younger.

A few have asked "how did you get your hair to fro up like a black person like that?"

(Me: :comeon:)

When I tell them it's my natural hair I get the :ohhh::dwillhuh:look from the white women and the :whoo::gladbron::ahh:from the white guys, but either the :camby::scust: :what:or the :wow:from the old black guys.

So the curiosity doesn't bother me I just hate the hair reaction/questions that come afterwards.

See to me i always find its more about skin tone more then hair texture ... Theres this perception that if your not dark skinned Then your not fully black in some folks eyes :francis:...
