San Fran looks to have a strict Manhattan vibe. I believe Oakland is only compared to Brooklyn specifically.

San Francisco is less dense than Queens, it has plenty of neighborhoods that don't really resemble Manhattan

Walk ups. They were limited on how high they can go up. I know they were talking about changing that in recent years

Oh okay. Because I know Manhattan has a lot of 6 (even 7) story walkups but buildings that tall in The Bronx and Brooklyn usually have elevators.

The West Bronx was actually considered upscale when it was being built and lower Mahattan was an immigrant ghetto

i havent been back since the late 90's but i loved the jerome ave, bronx area, my grandma had an apartment right there next to a white castle and across the street from a chinese place and a pizza joint and a bodega all on the same block. And the train was close too cause we would take it and go to Far Rockaway to see my uncle. And in Christmas time i remember my pops taking me to see the big tree and ice skate at Rockefeller, we ended up getting lost and he just took me to a movie instead and we had the whole theatre to ourself.

Man all my memories of NYC are great, GOAT city:wow:.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.

San Fran has always been compared to Manhattan and Oakland to Brooklyn. I don’t think it has anything to do with “density”.

I think San Fran being its own city is why it has all different types of areas. Makes me wonder how different Manhattan neighborhoods would be if the borough was an independent city.

Yeah but I think that comparison is mostly because of how the two relate to each other rather than actually being like Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Manhattan would probably be damn near the same, it was its own city until 1898. The entire street grid (including upper Manhattan) was already in existence sans a few areas. Manhattan is truly its own urban beast.

Kingsbridge/Kingsbridge Heights, Bedford Park, and Norwood are my favorite Bronx neighborhoods. It's a pretty area with all the hills, trees, and parkland. Nice looking prewar buildings and houses. Very urban and fully feels like The Bronx but without having that really hood vibe that a lot of the South and West Bronx has
