Don't even say the South, they were putting out classics/good music for years.

It was just the one short era where things just changed directions completely. In your opinion what made this switch possible.

What lead to the Laffy Taffy era and then having it end a few years ago. The music is starting to go in a different direction. But I remember a time in middle school and high school where people were wearing 5X tall tees or those custom made shyts with the spray paint on it.

One minute hip-hop is dead and Lil Wayne is the best rapper alive. I don't agree/disagree with those statements but what happened, I wasn't on the internet like that back then cause I was doing other shyt and listening to whatever was getting played on the radio, Lil Jon, Ying Yang Twins, Ludacris all those guys.

What was the turning point, in your opinion?

I dont think it was the music. It was the technology. Ringtones became clear as mp3 audio and a new revenue stream for labels. So in order to sell a lot of artists/labels focused on material that would be catchy in 20-30 seconds...
just a guess.
