If you go the security route you can start with Security+ and move on to the CISSP.

I know Linux+ is on the list, but I've never seen anyone make a big deal about that cert.

I would just watch the free online security+ guides and make sure you fully understand the concepts and are not just memorizing things, because the exam questions themselves can be tricky at times.

All in all, it's just an entry level certification, and it's really not that difficult. The main people who fail it are the ones who try to "cram" the material or just memorize it.
