Ever heard of the M.I. theory, aka 'theory of multiple intelligences'? There's no "legitimacy" of one brand of intelligence over the other. It's simply a matter of preference and relevance, debatably of course. In short, I'd take a generalist over a specific genius in my quantifying of intelligence.

I see intelligence as wisdom. Wisdom being knowledge applied successfully.
You could have all the facts under the sun, I DON'T CARE. If you have no experiences or social smarts, you'll get that work trusting the wrong people, etc.

If adapting is a sign of intelligence then it's arguable that everything is intelligent. From there, we can maybe rank things, whether they are people or planets. It also raises some other questions like is the Earth of low intelligence for producing human beings who have caused irreparable damage to the planet.

No. Every other variable equal (success/creativity/production/ability to process relevant info and make something out of it on their own or with colleagues etc), then they are at least close enough to be equal. Intelligence isnt defined by a particular profession.
