What's your budget?

Edit: Ohh 1000, then you should probably go desktop., you get more for your dollar if you choose not to get prebuilt and make build it yourself.

The PS2 Emulator isn't too heavy on ram (8GB+ is a comfortable spot), but depending on the game you play (Shadow of Col is one of those heavy games so you can't cut it with Duo 2.5GHZ I3 ), you'll need a Duo(3,0Ghz+)/Quad(forgot the number) i5/i7 for your processor.

I've never had a ps2 emulator but I can tell you for fruity loops you don't need a powerful machine at all. For photoshop you can go relatively cheap as well but if you go too cheap you'll have to deal with incredibly slow load, and export times. Hell, if music and photoshop are a passion of yours you could even get away with a Mac mini for about $700. Then you'd have access to garage band and logic as well. Fruity loops is available for Mac now and the booth brehs actually hit me up with a pm to a certain link that gave me FL for a certain "price".

My Emulation Setup

PCSX2 - Playstation 2 Emulator News

Getting Started

System Requirements

Minimum (most games will be unplayable slow)
  • Windows/Linux OS
  • CPU: Any that supports SSE2 (Pentium 4 and up, Athlon64 and up)
  • GPU: Any that supports Pixel Shader model 2.0, except Nvidia FX series (broken SM2.0, too slow anyway)
  • 512MB RAM (note Vista needs at least 2GB to run reliably)
Recommended
  • Windows Vista / Windows 7 (32bit or 64bit) with the latest DirectX
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.2 GHz or better OR i3/i5/i7 @ 2,8 GHz or better OR AMD Phenom II @ 3,2 GHz or better
  • GPU: 8800gt or better (for Direct3D10 support)
  • RAM: 1GB on Linux/Windows XP, 2GB or more on Vista / Windows 7
Warning: Because of the nature of emulation, even if you meet the recommended requirements there will be games that will NOT run at full speed, due to emulation bugs or other limitations.
