Met alot of white ppl doing my grad degree who never been around us. There are large swaths of this country where white people do not interact with us on a daily basis at all. I was meeting ppl on campus who had never been around any multicultural anything from their hometown or high school. nikkas was even meeting Asians for the first time at 18 years old :dahell::mjlol:

So I can see them really not knowing how to not be cancelled lol
100% cosign this. This is how a lot of white kids at Big Ten schools are like. So many kids from in-state grow up in these small 1 stoplight towns with only other white people. Then they get on campus and get hit with the culture shock because there are people of all races and cultures.

Of course a large segment of non-blacks have never had actual real-life experience being around black people.

Why do y'all think they go so hard in pushing the most stereotypical and degrading imagery of blacks in the media for them to get their ideas of black people from. :mjtf:

Shyt so fcked up now, you could have a problem calling a man a man these days.

I’ve been in situations where a person stood up corrected a speaker to say African American in stead of Black. They have told people that it’s offensive and because I refuse speak against a fellow Black person, in some settings, I just shook my head internally. But, this idiot on reddit should not be confused on what’s racist in referring to us.
It really depends. Not all black people are african american; so i kinda get the push to say black. But most black people are african american , so i suppose either one works unless you hear a strong accent from the person you are referring to

Each situation was another Black person and they definitely were not from any country in Africa. I don’t have a problem with wither one (Black or African American). I’m just highlighting there are people that have a preference.
