What do you base your height on when asked?​

For the longest time I never knew my height short of the random guess made by the person at the DMV ....and also my pediatrician back in f'n high school.

IMPETUS
I had to have my height taken by medical staff recently while barefoot. So I'm curious what value do folks usually give.

Mainly because I only really measure my height against women, which in turn generates a 72 percent chance that she'll get out of HER shoes and give me an opportune opportunity to assess the health and state of her feet.
