What do you think about Teach for America?

I understand the idea behind it but I think the fundamental flaw in the program is thinking that you can equip people to teach in schools in the hood with the truncated training period regardless of how rigorous TFA claims their training is.
As someone who came from so-called "bad" schools and who has worked in them as an adult, these TFA folks are destined to be eaten alive by the kids, parents and bureaucracy they will face in these types of schools.
