What do you think of Timbaland as a Rap producer?

think about what youre saying here.

ms jade & bubba were timbaland's artists. if timbaland is as great as you say he is, then people would've cared enough to check for their albums, just off association. plus you said it yourself that they weren't wack. ms jade would've been an all-time female favorite on here if she was with a different crew. she was basically Eve on steroids, but being signed to timbaland is what made her look corny. not the other way around.

and no, timbaland didn't lace her with bangers like that. I mean, he gave her quality goofy commercial beats. i'll say that much.

and I hate to break it to you breh, but timbo gave pop chit to jada & them, because that's hat he is!!! a top 40 producer. nobody really goes to timbaland for album cuts.

im sayin that, i have a fukkload of songs by Timbo, that I fukk with solely for the beat...but the song is corny..and yes timbo is usually why the song is corny and if it aint him, its a mediocre artist on the track. I feel like certain beats he made would've been turned into classics in the hands of better artists.
Like, what happens to "nikka What, nikka Who" if he keeps that for himself and magoo?

a classic beat is a classic beat. If it went to timbo & magoo, it just wouldn't be a classic song. but still a classic beat attached to a hit record. they could've made it into "up jumps da boogie" on steroids.

timbaland just adds a certain stench to his records, that brings all his tracks down a notch. regardless of whose rapping over it.

Dude is pretty much considered a legend, so he's rated where he should be.

My take:
Pre-2006 Timbaland was a legend with a unique style.

Around that time Timbo practically pioneered the mainstream electronic sound in hip-hop and R&B. As much as that is credit to him, and shows how great he is, I got to dock him points for that. A lot of copycats from that point on lead to the over-saturation we have today of it.

I'm getting the idea that some of the people voting timbaland as being 'properly rated', aren't looking at the bigger picture.

its not about timbaland being a legend.

the problem is, he tends to get propped up as a top 10 RAP producer from the younger and/or more commercialized crowd.
