What do you think things would be like if Al Gore had won in 2000?

Considering the SC stole that election and he actually should've won, it's interesting to think about...

-Maybe 9/11 wouldn't have happened
-Probably no War in Iraq
-Probably no Obama presidency, at least not in 2008 since there'd have been a Dem incumbent (maybe he'd run in 2012 or later tho)
-Probably no Trump presidency since there wouldn't have been a racist backlash against Obama
-Higher chance that McCain or Romney would've been president after Gore
-Climate change might have actually been addressed when there was still time

Kind of crazy to think the world might be totally different if not for a few hundred votes. :wow:

Above the fray.
Gore / Bush election snags were related to Joe Lieberman being Gore's running mate. To what extent I'm not sure. BUT, Gore lost his home state despite being the former Senator, coming from a politically connected family, and carrying the state TWICE as Clinton/Gore ticket.

Had he won TN, he would have won the election.

:francis:Iraq would've been inevitable, reading about Saddam's son Uday....sweet jesus. Motherfukker made Bosnian war criminals look like snatch and grabbers.
How do you think Al Gore would have sold the Iraq War to the public? Would he have used the WMD argument Bush used?

So many hypothetical what if's

Uday was gonna be the likely successor when Sadam stepped down, but would he have double crossed his brother? He already had family members killed off.

Would Al Gore, McCain or Romney be able to sell a war (maybe McCain could've) in a recession America?

Does a dude who gets his kicks off raping and killing women take it a step further once he gets the keys to castle?

Man, a lot of what-if's, but it would've seemed like a ticking timebomb either way you slice it.

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
I think we’d be better off today if Gore had won, which I believe he did.

As a strong advocate for the environment, his presidency could have been a game-changer in the fight against climate change, potentially making the U.S. a leader in renewable energy.

On foreign policy, Gore might have leaned more toward diplomacy, possibly changing the post-9/11 landscape with a focus on counter-terrorism over the Iraq War. Domestically, his progressive views could have sped up advancements in healthcare and LGBTQ+ rights, paving the way for earlier reforms like the Affordable Care Act.

Economically, Gore’s policies may have continued the fiscal responsibility and tech innovation from the Clinton years, boosting education and digital infrastructure to fuel job growth.

Overall, a Gore presidency could have led to a less polarized political climate focused on collaboration, highlighting how much leadership shapes history. Instead though, we got George W. Bush, the worst president in my lifetime, thus far.

Not that many people would have died in Katrina, had he been president.

9/11 probably happens, or something similar. He definitely would have focused on Afghanistan and got Osama quickly. The American intelligence community was in shambles because our allies did not want to trust another Bush.

SOHH would have had PAWG threads for his daughters.

The 2000 election is probably one of the most important elections we've ever had.

9/11 would have still happened, but our response would have been different. No nation building in Afghanistan. Bin Laden would have been killed probably no later than 2004.

No Arab Spring

No Child Left Behind doesn't happen.

Climate change is taken much more seriously.

Obama probably doesn't become president or if he does, it probably won't be until 2016 at the earliest, 2020 at the latest.

The Great Recession is either avoided or it's impact isn't as bad.

Trump never goes into politics.

The Tea Party/MAGA movement doesn't happen.
