So in other words, the Italians didn't ask for Columbus Day like we didn't ask for Juneteenth?
If you look at it, the USA is such a new country that the foundational mythology isn’t really settled yet and it’s all documented. This means that we can just invent holidays to mask shyt. That’s the same with MLK and Labor Day and Memorial Day.
