:ehh:So they’re making a more powerful Steam Machine. Probably gonna be customizable, have other store fronts, and modder friendly.

They can’t even do that now, a series x is $600 and a 2 tb is $730 lol

how much is a non-subsidized box going to be because no one will ever use the windows/xbox store front again if steam is on there. People didn’t even want a $300 dollar xbox, i doubt anyone will care about a $800 dollar asus xbox Besides hardcore xbox stans.

The same people that made an argument about the ps5 pro not being a good value are going to spend the next few years trying to convince people a walled living room pc (with paid online) is a good deal for even more money lol
Yea ngl I forgot they increased prices. I’m still living in pre tarif era in my mind.

If they honestly think the future is in game pass/subscriptions then they may be willing to use the Xbox hardware brand As a loss leader in order to penetrate diff markets.

600-700 dollar box, 400 dollar entry level handheld

Both offer steam, game pass, and Xbox store.

Then there were rumors of licensing the Xbox brand to other hardware vendors as well.

Maybe they are aiming to keep their 50 million base and add a few more million through the diff hardware strategies.

Add a few more million to that 50, increase game pass subs, increase price of game pass it self, add in some type of AI/co pilot gaming offering (you know it’s coming), cut of digital games sold, licensing fees, etc.

Might work for them :manny:

Feels like they are going to end up being 3rd rate storefront on their own hardware next to Steam and Epic (maybe even GOG), the latter who are sitll just giving games away.

to me, this just looks like conceding the hardware race and storefront race to steam, google, apple, and sony. I don’t really think anyone is jumping ship from any of those platforms for gamepass either especially when gamepass is already $250 dollars and still increasing in price..

Would be nice to have some pseudo PC/console hybrid, but I don't see MS just giving up that 30% take to adhere to the relatively open nature of the PC if I'm being honest. Probably they'll front their own stuff (being MS hardware), but the PC Windows store rarely gets burn outside of GP. Will they really lean on the console base to keep the MS/XB store useful?

Maybe they do something dumb like intercept the payment methods for other storefronts because greed never stops? :ehh:

Seems like it would just end up making Xbox users want to go PC. Microsoft just needs to sit down, be a publisher, and maybe make some high quality accessories.

Y'all dudes are really weird with this console is just a PC stuff, when console have always been a off shoot of PC's focused on gaming. So an Xbox with a Steam OS or whatever would still just be a console off shoot of a PC.

The funny thing is that Sony is the one that made PC/consoles even more close nit with the PS1, they were creeping super close up on the PC space which is the ONLY reason Xbox got green lit.

Now dudes want to act like their is some huge difference between consoles and PC when in reality they are all more similar then they have ever been.

I don't see it happening, because I don't think MS would be so quick to loose their revenue from services and their digital store
