What else does the executioner do at the prison?

As Arkansas executes its 4th in 8 day it made me wonder. What else does the executioner do at the prison? Is he a doctor? Does he just hang out until he's needed? Is he a private contractor?

Theres no single "executioner" these days bruh...executions are done by pushing a button ...probably one of the supervising COs on duty is usually just picked by the warden to flip the switch


In the old days of hanging from gallows there used to be people trained in the art of quickly snapping necks to minimise the suffering or maximise it as needed but since hanging was ended those skills are no longer needed.
