Being a firefighter and seeing tons of dead people. Seeing people take their last breaths. Become numb to it after awhile but never forget them.
I had a similar realization last year when i attempted to remember my great grand parents. Realized i had only met 3 out of 8 of them.
And i honest to god know almost nothing about how they lived their lives
Even with the three that are gone, i kinda regret that myself as a child did not ask them more about how things were like for them. A few of them actually experienced the 1800s with horse drawn carriages, which is wild to me.
And at times i genuinely wonder what WW1 was like for them and realize these are questions that could have been asked directly at one point .![]()
Nothing physically but more so my conscience being but my son being born. We are all forgotten at some point in time and so too is my fate after I pass. To think once I pass I’ll only exist in my sons and maybe his kids memories if I’m blessed to see that. When they’re gone so too am I
