Its interesting. If you look at Howard Stern's radio history, he's said and done things that are way more offensive than anything JR has said or done (including blackface). Howard has done a pretty good job of wiping the internet of his past offenses, and has basically killed his status as a "radio legend/icon" in an effort to avoid his past (which also includes misogyny and homophobia). I bring up HS because I think he is the blueprint for a lot of these current podcasters/radio shock jocks. He really laid the groundwork for what we're currently seeing, and people like JR definitely took notes on how to engage an audience through feigned ignorance when it comes to discussing controversial topics. It will be interesting to see what comes of all of this. Nothing ever matters, in situations like this one, except for the bottom line ($$$), and if JR becomes too much of a financial liability for Spotify, then this could be the end for him as far as Spotify is concerned. He'll still have his dedicated audience though.
