Like, the man has arguably the best verse ever on arguably the best hip-hop song ever, but he is nowhere near super-rich or super-famous. Those of you with insider info., what exactly happened to prevent his stardom? What steps did he take to screw himself over?

Dunno, but on every rap he tells you how fly/rich he is, so I hope it's true for his sake.

Also, he sounds bad on club/dance songs, so he never got that crossover love.

Sugar hill is great though.

Seems to have a boring personality and he'll forever be in Nas shadow.

He had as much of success as he could w/Sugar Hill, Problems, Hey AZ, I'm Back, and lastly his time in The Firm but he just was NEVER going to be big.

I think 9 Lives and Pieces of a Man went Gold along w/Aziatic and Doe or Die eventually went platinum which is great considering he's never been REALLY pushed into the spotlight.

The Sugar Hill single went gold or platinum and Doe or Die may have gone gold but his label folded right before the 2nd album came out which delayed it by about a year and when it came out it had no promotion so it flopped. After that he signed to Motown and they didnt really promote him either. IMO he has one of the best catalogs in hip hop but never got the right push. If he would of signed to def jam his career may have been totally different. He could of signed to any label he wanted after life's a bytch, from what I heard there was a major bidding war

The song "Everything is Everything" ft. Joe was actually a great commercial record that didn't take off for some reason... Had that summer feel as well

he had a knack for signing to shabby labels.

90% of this chit is your business, 10% of this chit is your talent.

Az is a great mc, but he never had "IT".

His verse on "life's bytch" is very overrated.

actually he does have "it".

the ladies luv him and the gentlemen think hes great.

sosa isnt some dude that makes great music but only appeals to dirtbags. he actually has "it". thats whats so frustrating about him.

What makes you say that. How could you have been so sure?
