Lemme guess Indies don't count even though Ori and the Blind forest, Unravel Shovel Knight Guacamelee all exist and to a lesser degree Mighty number 9. All current sidescrollers whether metroidvania or pure platformers have been influenced by Super mario. And you get shytty clones on Smartphones so don't tell me they aren't relevant.
