GTA online and CEOS is what happened to midnight club. I highly doubt we'd get another one anytime soon and that's a shame because it was the best alternative to need for speed out there.

When Fast & Furious franchise moved to copying GTA so did the street racing video games died off too

We had NFSU, Midnight Club, SRS, Juiced, LA Rush, all them games getting released around the same time. MC: LA was the last type of game.

I'd like to see another strictly street racing game getting released, but gaming industry sucks these days.

Dub Edition is the best racing game ever.

I liked the first one but NFS: Underground was the best street racing series.
Forza Horizon, Motorsport and Gran Turismo excelled the car racing segment. After playing those games it's hard to play anything less.
I tried playing NFS: Payback after years of playing Horizon religiously and that shyt was so trash. I turned it off after the first mission and sat there mad.

Both Underground/Most wanted & Midnight Club were equally great.

It depends on what you prefer in street racing games the most. Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition and LA had far more customization than Underground series. Meanwhile NFS offered you not just sprints/circuits but drag racing, drift too. Also felt like NFS had better handling. While Midnight Club maps felt more live with pedestrians and fast racing. When they made MC: LA with the new GTA engine
