Seems like the only people who can be successful singing soul music are white people. Think Adele, Robin Thicke and Amy Winehouse. Everybody gets excited when a white person can sing with soul moreso than the originators of it.

If Adele had been Black, she would be just another struggling neo soul musician singing in lounges and small arenas. When a white person can do things that are traditionally Black, the amount of attention and accolades they receive is just unbelievable.

It still exists but you have to look hard for it. You wont hear it on typical urban stations anymore where R&B is like that ILOVEMAKONNEN bullshyt. The 30 and over stations will give you like Anthony Hamilton and shyt. Soul is on life support. The last soul legend was Kells
Stop letting teens dictate music and it'll return...its all just horny teen music for the most part...
