What Happened To The 2-1 Pick And Roll?

I just heard Grant Hill say that you rarely see the 2-1 pick and roll anymore on TNT and it made me wonder why. I remember realizing the same thing when I used to use 2-1/1-2 pick and rolls on 2k; it hit me that NBA teams don't really do this. Can someone breakdown from a strategic stand point why teams don't do this? Are there teams that currently use these pick and rolls?

you don't really gain as much of an advantage going for that PNR compared to a 4-1 or 5-1 PNR. most 2 guards are quick enough to contain the 1 for a play, and almost all point guards should be able to stop a 2 from turning the corner, unless we're talking andre miller or calderon

because it doesn't create the mismatchs that running pick and roll against a big causes

I hear you guys on it really not creating advantages. But Grant Hill made it seem as if they were prevalent at one point in the league, just not anymore. Does anyone remember teams of the past using these pick and rolls more?
