Millennial hipster-era darlings that became casualties to Gen-Z’s shift in taste preferences alongside Vice Media, Desus & Mero, New Girl, Charles Hamilton, American Apparel, Tumblr, Forums, Blogs, etc.

I love a lot of their work, but once Keef and Durk took over the sound of the Chicago, their retro production style didn’t hit the same. Highkey, I like Sir Michael Rocks solo work a lot more.

But I think their reunion album could do well if marketed similarly to the Clipse with the legacy media interviews. Would be a good signee for a label like Mass Appeal who could market their style / influence properly. They really started a lot of the retro streetwear / sneaker culture we saw the resurgence of.

They officially returned with a triple album in 2022 and have a new album, Hi Top Fade, coming up on October 10.

They actually had a comeback album in 2017 called Special Edition Grand Master Deluxe. After that they dropped regular singles for a couple years that culminated into a compilation tape called Volumes in 2020. Then the triple album Before shyt Got Weird (Disc 1 group album, disc 2 Sir Michael Rocks album Baby Oil Staricase, disc 3 Chuck Inglish album Chillout). Also leading up to Volumes they dropped EPs with The Alchemist (Layups, 2019) and Cardo (Got Wings, 2020) but those songs ultimately ended up on Volumes.
