As a kid back int he 90's, it was like a 1-2 PUNCH, you had the original song playing on the radio and had you like :wow:

then a month or two later you would hear the magic words "THIS IS THE REEEEMMMIXXXXX!!!!" :takedat:

and you'd be like :ooh::gladbron:

and it would be like a new song but with the same concept and a slightly different hook ala "Biggie one more chance" or "Junior mafia's Get Money", LL cool J's "Loungin" etc.

Why can't we get that nowadays?? The most recent REAL REMIX that's come out is Will.I.Am's "Scream and shout" and you can't front that the remix is def Bangin! Hit-Boy laced that up! Nowadays you have "remixes" being the same beat just an added verse by a feature.. smh so what gives??

This Generation has been fukkin up tradition....

Its bad enough you don't have any real Rap Groups anymore

Even worse that Rap Videos mean nothing anymore and other than Youtube there isn't anywhere to really watch them.

But now they've killed the remix... You still hear a few of them, I enjoyed bytch don't kill my vibe with Jay-Z

but back then, the remix meant they changed up a beat a lil bit and dudes spit fresh verses

Nowdays dudes use the same verse, same beat, throw 2 new features on a song and call it a remix

Remixes were crack back in the day. Artist would even do radio edits with different words or even a different verse.

I think most artist are lazy now days they don't have time to craft one song let alone remixes.

Also the artist want to capitalize on the amount of total spins/sales a record gets. Meaning if they dont change the beat and add new verses all radio spins for any remix (tacking on other artists) will contribute to the original product.

It cheapens the music but most music is cheap now anyway.

The remix got killed when the lames stopped making complete different beats for the remix, adding another verse or rearranging a hook on the original beat started the decline. And now you got 4 rappers on the first version of the song, how the fukk do you remix that...lmao @ the same 8 rappers remixing the same ass tracks they already did together

Edit: I also think the death of physical sales of singles killed it. You had to have at least the song, a remix or another album cut, and the instrumental.

you would think with more rappers giving away free music like hot cakes they'd be able to at least focus on the REMIX!! smh

This year Cole (with Nas), Wale (bad remix) Drake (Versace), Kendrick (with Jay), ASAP( Ueneo), Big Sean (Mula remix) has dropped remixes.. I.e. every hot rapper from the new generation. Can you point to another 6 month period where the 5 hottest rappers had official remixes out? Not saying there wasn't, I just can't think of any off the top.
