I didn't grow up with my father.. and even worse I had a horrible step father. By him living in my house gave the appearance to outsiders that i at least had a "father figure" , but that couldn't be further from the truth. So i never had another male who looked out for me or give me life advice

So as a teenager I found myself listening to a lot of rap music, and i took the opinions of rappers to heart

I remember reading one interview by Beanie Sigel and he was giving dating tips...and one of the tips was how to apply cologne..

And he said to make sure you apply a spray right below your belly button, in case you get lucky you want to be smelling good down there...so for years when i applied cologne i always gave that area a quick spray

More seriously i remember i was at a party one night and they were snorting pills and shyt like that..and i tried because in a weird twisted way when Jadakiss said the line"i got coke by the boatload".. it resonated with me , and i felt like snorting powder was normal part of life

Cam'ron made me want a bottle of Sizzup so bad, but no stores around my way sold them...I've also bought numerous Dipset Tee shirts throughout the years

Good or bad, what has a rapper influenced you to do..

It made me want to be a rapper. That's about it.

All that other shyt you talking about, I never experienced. I started listening to rap as a toddler, I knew it was entertainment. I never wanted to snort pills while pretending it's coke, becuz of hip hop. I feel bad for you breh.

To be clear i can't say rap music made me want to do coke, but when the opportunity presented itself, that Jadakiss' lyric kinda went off in my head, and i felt somewhat "reassured" in a way that what i was about to do was "cool"

Edit just to give you some context but I was 17 and in a boarding school outta state when that particular incident happened .

You lowkey tryna shyt on OP but he's faaaar from the only YOUTH that has been influenced by rap. Its the most influential music on the planet. I :salute:that you viewed rap as entertainment since a toddler. Many dont. Take this recent thread for example:

http://www.thecoli.com/threads/char...-work-in-the-streets-than-90s-rappers.320070/

Cats debating and arguing about which rappers has stomped out and killed the most black people. Why does this matter if its "just entertainment? Thats because its not. But if YOU personally view it as such ill let you cook.

Refer to women as bytches and hoes, influence my fashion choices, help me rationalize why it's ok to be brutal to other Black people if the situation called for it, influenced me to want to show off for other Black people, influenced me to spend more money than I could afford on "status items", influenced me to use gang member lingo casually, possibly endangering my life and others, influenced me to believe it wasn't a big deal for Black people to sell drugs to other Black people.

@Wild self @Truth200 @Matt504 @Klyk21 lets watch the defenders of this black genocide music try to shyt on OP in an attempt to deny raps' influence. Its already starting

I don't really expect much honesty in threads like these, the lies are already starting, "I knew as a kid that it was just entertainment"

:francis:

I don't know dude from a can of paint but I say that's bullshyt, someone else will come along with more lies and passive aggressive insults like in the thread about Wayne popularizing lean in double cups, people are so out of touch with reality that they refuse to give him credit for it, "people in Texas been doing that"

Prepare to get attacked HEAVILY for this post.:wow: Cats refuse to believe that there are in fact youth(hell, even adults) thats being influenced just how you described. Ive seen it. Like Dr. Boyce Watkins said: "if you dont think rap has an influence, you OBVIOUSLY havent spent much time around the youth"
