...I just finished watching the Netflix doc and the thing that stood out to me the most is just how much of a dumbass Ja Rule is. There was never a point where he produced sound guidance or advice, all he had to offer was corny ass nikka ass one-liners.

One of the employees said “you guys lied to the public about the festival, that’s fraud” and ja rules said “mmmmm that’s not fraud, that’s not fraud, it’s false advertising”.

:hhh:

You would think with as much revenue he brought in that he would net some sense but this nikka is a straight bozo. Like, he don’t even seem like a cool dude to hang out with...he came across like a straight fukking cornball left and right.

I haven't seen the doc yet but I could tell they probably came to him about it not telling him all the fukked up shyt behind the scenes. Then he found out about the bullshyt and he was in too deep to distance himself from it so he tried to ride it out. Like I said I haven't seen it yet so I could be wrong. It's just what it looks like to me

I feel like if someone wanted to after watching this, could pull it off.

There’s clearly an audience willing to pay for this type of festival no matter how expensive. But just take the appropriate amount of time to plan and execute this.

Ehh idk. It only seemed feasible because of the ridiculously low price point and how much they spent getting Instagram models to promote it.

Anybody can undervalue something and pay famous people a lot of money to promote it and get some interests but that doesn’t mean there’s really a “feasible” market that has a realistic chance of being profitable.

That island had literally no infrastructure. It might run you over $100 million to adequately throw an event of that magnitude on there. At 5,000 (the max capacity for the island) people that’d be $20,000 per ticket just to break even.

Good Luck trying to sell that.

Events like that only work at large scale (talking 50,000+ ppl). That island is nowhere near big enough.

Burning Man is a somewhat similar type of event where they bring a large scale amount of ppl to an infrastructure less environment in the Nevada desert. And they put out their cost reports every year. It costs them $40 million to throw it. However burning man doesn’t use any paid acts and also Burning Man just provides the infrastructure (they pay for the grants, insurance, emergency personnel, equipment, ticket services and that’s it. They don’t provide the staging, sound systems, tents, etc like other festivals. All of that is brought by the festival goers. And also I’d imagine it’s much cheaper to truck equipment to Nevada than it is to fly by planes to the Bahamas. Burning Man tickets are like $500ish but they bring 80,000 people.

Oh my goodness. I thought the same thing. Observing Ja hang around Billy and crew was cringe worthy. Billy literally used that dude for “credibility” in social circles.

Then came the part of the doc where he ordered Chanel Iman to get into the pool at night and her harsh rebuttal made me think, yo, this guy really doesn’t get any respect because he doesn’t deserve it.

Billy probably got into his ear talking about how Nas and Chamillionaire truck gold as VC investors and now is his shot to do the same. I’m from a hustlers block in Brooklyn. There is NO way a dude like Billy Could hustle me. From his cheap clothes, bad teeth and goofy demeanor, there was no way he could be really who he said he was. For Christ’s sake, when has a Tech guy ever thrown or gotten themselves involved in a Music Festival?

I was like wow, Ja is really a bozo indeed.
