I think it's that simple. If an album can be played years after it dropped, and appreciated on the same level as it was initially, that's a great album. That's art. Standing the test of time is really what separates music these days. Lyrics and production can end up dated, but if your album is so dope that it still rocks 10-20 years later, regardless of the sound, you've got something special there.

if it sounds good to my ears and I'm getting something from the album I won't get anywhere else.

as much as i love a great lyricist...if the beats are less than good the album has zero replay value to me. i always like the least amount of guest appearances and no skits to boot. life after death showed me how much i hate to fast ffwd tracks because of intro's on so many of them.

Creativity and Originality.

Don't use a blueprint from your last album. Don't follow the standards of other people.
When thought and heart goes into an album it's very easy to tell, verses if it's slapped together.

Not too many features as well, bc this is not those people's album...it needs to be about the artist and what they have to say, etc.

energy, flow, beats, subject matter... creativity doesn't matter too much to me, if your music knocks it knocks

This and playback for me . I should be able to press play and listen all the way through .

But that's all subjective :yeshrug:.. Some songs I'm skipping on what I would call classic albums
