Black people that salivate and are so damn desperate for cac validation.

I swear to gawd that shiit boils my blood.

"How come they don't put us in their movies?"
"They take our stuff, but won't give us credit."
"They appropriate our hair and culture."
"Tom Brady can do it, why can't Cam?"
"Why are they scared of us?"

SHUT THE FUKK UP!

Cacs don't fukk with us. We know that. Why would you want them to? Stop giving them the power to fukk your day up.

I saw that thread on here about this nikka that was crying because a cac on AirBnb denied him a place to stay. Why would you even want to stay there? Just say "Fukk 'em" and move on. They are not going to change their ways. These are the same type of c00ns that won't support a black businesses or any black media. :comeon:

I get what you are saying...there are two sides to this argument though. The other side:

We make Rap music
the outcome is "Rap music is bad" and they run over CDs with steamrollers

a few years later

THEY make Rap music
They dominate all award shows, they are on TV doing the dances, they steal the vernacular and then make it trendy

We wear cornrows (always have)
"oh that's ghetto...trashy...unacceptable in the workplace" :francis:

a few years later

THEY wear cornrows...
It's hip, trendy, the new wave for summertime hair :stopitslime:

etc.

I do agree that some people want acceptance and that's silly/childish. However, some people see it as ideological imperialism. They steal everything we do and phase us out (make it corny and we can no longer enjoy it)

It's like you go to a science fair and you put all of your hard work on your project, cited your sources, came up with a dope hypothesis and went up to the stage like :takedat: and they give you an F

next year you see your same poster board with your name crossed off and they win the science fair :dahell:

I know what you mean, but the ones I hate are the ones like this guy, you know, the black person white people point to when they say some racist shyt and then say 'look at my black fried, he'll tell you the same thing!!'.

They shouldn't have the power in the first place. Why should a white person telling you something is not acceptable make you feel bad? My point was stop letting them dictate what is right and wrong.

I agree with you. It's not always a cut and dry situation though.

We have a LOT of institutions in America (businesses, banks, schools, etc.)

but we don't have the majority.

So when we are told "we are wrong/bad/ etc." not always does it affect just "morale". More often than not this type of oppression has serious consequences on life, right or wrong.

If you are a black filmmaker, you may need "white" approval to get a film highlighted, to get funding, to get distribution. The institutions (SAG, The Academy, Sundance, SXSW, Cannes, etc.) are mostly "white" institutions. You need some level of approval in order to further your craft. When you don't get it (despite how amazing your work is) you may not be able to just say "well it's good enough for us" because you are stifling your career and your livelihood. Not saying you need to completely conform, but you need the recognition within the discipline in order to further yourself.

Now, of course you can do things yourself, but until we have strong institutions set up, we can only get so far. In this scenario it's not about the "pat on the back" it's about actually having the opportunity to do your craft at the highest level, and actually needing the gatekeepers of the industry to approve your work.

To speak to the bolded, you are are correct. But we need the torch bearers to help us establish our own institutions. To use the filmmaker analogy again, we need Oprah, Tyler Perry, Will Smith, and others to start kicking money to the black filmmaker to say "I believe in your work...let's get it going" in order to shift that power that studios hold.
