They have to get rid of the salary floor I think .
Sixers are $40 million UNDER the cap floor. They basically have to give a bum the max just to avoid getting fined
Crazy thing is no fans would complain about their teams being cheap, I'm basically seeing everybody everywhere saying wtf to the mozgoz deal. I'd legit rather sign a d league nikka, especially on a team like the lakers which ain't winning a chip next yr, then commit big money to a bum for multiple yrs
If you get rid of the floor, you enable owners cut from the same cloth as Jeff loria, or the guys who ran the Pirates and royals for a long time who would just pocket the revenue sharing checks and spend nothing on the team. Kinda like how he bengals owner used to basically Not even bother employing a scouting department.

People get so hung up on words. Just cuz they called it "Max Contract" ya'll get upset and act like it should be reserved for only the best of the best.

But if they called it the "Standard Veteran's Salary" or something basic, nobody would trip if Mozgov got a 300 million dollar deal...Stay Woke

I won't hate on anyone getting paid. Better question is what the hell do these GM's be doing?

Is there an actual penalty to not reaching the floor though?

All I've ever heard is that you have to pay the difference out equally to everyone on the team

You're right. That's how it works.

ho
The Sixers have done this for the last couple of years and all everyone did was accuse them of intentionally fielding a bad team

What I'm describing is basically collusion so it wouldn't work anyway. I'm not talking about owners just not signing anyone like the sixers. But refusing to "overpay" marginal players because the "market dictates" it.
