Eh, economics =/= culture. For example, Jamaica is economically depressed compared to many other countries. But its cultural contributions globally far outweigh its size.
But in the case of Detroit there's not just Motown, there's the industrial influence it's had on America historically. That's beyond just the industry/economy itself but it's a major part of how people live. Chicago beats them all obviously.
I did say I think Detroit still has a step on Minneapolis. But it's inches, not feet. Minneapolis has essentially caught up to Detroit in the past 15 years, prior to '08 there was a huge gap between the two. It just hasn't surpassed Detroit yet, but it's right there...
Fair enough. However, not just Baltimore, but Jersey club and Chicago house have credit for music's current sound. But it's not predominant enough that anyone even cares where it came from. The producer's doing it, aren't even from Baltimore.
