We often measure greatness by the impact the player had on the game. An instance of that is when you have a whole generation of players modeling their game around you. We have the MJ tree with all his sons, the Kobe tree ( which really is just branches from Jordan's tree but I'll let stans cook ), AI of course had nikkas that wanted to be like him, Lebron has nikkas that's been in the league for years openly worshipping him, all the way down to the most recent massive impact we've seen with Curry and the inevitable sons he will produce in the league.

What about Pippen? Jordan bred Kobe which bred Westbrook,Taytum, etc. Shaq bred Dwight, Larry Bird had the blueprint for the goofy unathletic 3&D players etc.

Dwight isn't in the same universe as Shaq, Bird is a god compared to his children, etc. So don't come in this bytch thinking I'm disrespecting anybody I just can't really see Pippen's personal touch on the game like I can see other greats.

This obviously isn't a knock on him, I'm born and raised in Chicago that nikka's a legend forever :wow: I'm just trying to find patterns in styles of play. Discuss

Pippen was one of the best Robins the game has ever seen, but everyone wants to be Batman

This, if I understand correctly OP is asking which players molded their game after this or that player? In that sense, it's obvious that most players would not try to be Scottie, but rather Mike.

Also a lot of what makes Pippen who he was was his defense, and we all know that defense has become much less of a calling card for players over the years.

Paul George, Andre iguodala, Jimmy butler. I would add kawhi for the defensive versatility but I don't think he is as good as a distributor and can run the offense as well but he is rapidly improving in that aspect.

Lamar Odom was a Scottie hybrid also. The thing is Scottie could score when needed and as the lead player showing from 93-95 when Mike was gone. But he sacrificed his game and handled other aspects to free Jordan up to do his thing.

Kawhi? :manny:

I think breh grew up on some Kobe shyt, but he's the best i can think of off the top of my head:jbhmm:
I can't ever see that nikka playing a B role in any system.... Muthafukka got a Finals MVP wit Old Man Duncan on the squad. And like you said plus that whole silent assassin shyt got that Kobe mystique to it lol

Latrell Sprewell, Iggy, Kawhi :manny:

Edit

MJ although the goat, belongs on the Dr J tree. And Vince Carter is one of his sons, Iverson too and of course Kobe...

Westbrook is basically the grandson with a learning disability

And I agree this is not meant to disrespect anybody, well except maybe Russ...
So damn accurate :dead:

I look at Lebron as a souped up Pippen.

Souped up is trash terminology but I see how you could come up with this train of thought regarding Pippen/lebron
