I'm not a big fan of rock music but I do fukk with this song, and it's a decent video I suppose...

But for years I've been trying to figure out how this video is consistently at the top of the Greatest Videos of All-Time lists (by all the CAC media outlets - MTV, VH1, Rolling Stone, etc.) ahead of "Thriller" and whatnot.

Somebody school me on what I'm missing here.

IMMIGRANT TETHERS
you should know the flow by now, once a pitchfork or Rolling Stone dub anything as the greatest, it's easy to hypnotize the 'music know it alls' into agreeing. Kind of like film snobs. You also have some black folks who do that too, to prove that they don't only listen to "gangsta" rap.

but "teen spirits' is great though.

At the time 80s glam rock still reigned supreme, so this was a refreshing change of pace to the rock audience. History will probably repeat itself, and some group or artist will end up doing the same thing to the rap world cuz shyt is mad soft right now mainstream wise.

No.

Smells Like Teen Spirit embodies what grunge was...it's the equivalent to Straight Outta Compton for West Coast Rap.

When you think grunge, you think Nirvana, and this video.

The video never did anything for me. Nevermind was a dope album though. In Utero was better though imo.

Yeah, that song never made any sense. They have tons of better material. But on the low, Kurt Cobain killed himself because he wasn't Billy Corgan, and never could be.

Smashing Pumpkins >>>

According to the autopsy he had so much heroin in his system there's no way he could have pulled a trigger..someone gave the boy a hot shot

Count me in on the "Nirvana was overrated" and "Cobain didn't kill himself" camps.

1. I think Nirvana is alright, but man they are not the be all to end all that alot of ppl make 'em out to be. This song is directly responsible for their success, so I blame this song. I just don't think it's that good, and I think Nevermind is an average record as well. There were so many other, much better alternatives from that era.

2. I read a book on Cobain, and there's just too much mystery surrounding his death. I do not think he killed himself, and I think that that hoebag Courtney had something to do with his death. But that's a conversation for another day.
