What is the big deal with Lupe Fiasco on here ?

He was definitely a breath of fresh air, and his MIX-tapes are incredible. but he gets a load of undue credit.
It's not hate, I'm not a hater I'm a congratulator. But come on, Lupe hasn't released any great album since 2007. okay he has a few hot songs, check, hit single, check-- but people only talk about his double or triple entendres, what about his flow, what about his delivery ? what about his recent albums ?

I'm just trying to understand because I don't know a single person outside of the coli who really fukk with him

From a technical standpoint Lupe is good. Nobody denies that. But they gas Lupe's music & lyrics like he's a god when he's really not. & thats not hate i clearly gave Lupe credit but insecure nikkas will act like you punched they mom if you even question Lupe's skill.

His technical ability, not bad. His music after Food & Liquor & The Cool, average at best. metaphors arent everything but thecoli nerds nut at the thought of Lupe goin all super technical rapper

& people on thecoli will gas an average/slightly above average project from an artist like Lupe Or Budden because they believe every little thing out their mouths is gold & greatness...They can do no wrong. Thats why Food & Liquor 2 was an above average release but they hype it like its some crazy ass album that people should talk more about.


In other words, thecoli stans for Lupe. They nut when Lupe gets all lyrical & technical. But that doesnt make the music better honestly....Lupe got decent lyrics. He needs to focus on gettin better musically. Lyrics dont mean sh*t if the music and his flow don't grab your attention & isn't as entertaining as it should be. Thats just IMO...

the problem is he comes across as "talking down to you" when he adresses social/concious topics where as kendrick is trying to explain things to you as if he was on the same level as you..

I don't know what y'all talking bout. Lupes last two albums got shyt on pretty hard on here, Lasers more so. People on here are realistic about lupe, he is an extremely talented wordsmith who is far above average with the pen but his music choices have been questionable. F+L 2 got some praise because the beat selection was a little better but it also got shyt on cause the majority of it was musically weak. but The last couple of tracks he put out SLR 2 + 3 got a lot of props cause they was dope.

Kendrick is just more introspective in his rhymes when he talks about certain issues. Lupe is more like a preacher which why it feels like he's talking down on you.

PLUS lupe has got to have one of the WORST ears for beats in hip hop. Way worse than Nas. He steady rappin on these alternative rock beats like he's trying to be different yet its just Wack.

If he had better beats and wasn't over complicating his rhymes he'd still be a big force in hip hop. I mean he's better than Kendrick and j cole and whoever else.
