i was thinking about how disgusting dogs are. they will eat... well, anything off the ground. so it got me to thinking... whats the grossest animal on earth? i started researching and man it got bad. even butterflies are disgusting... when butterflies cant find a water source, they do something called 'puddling' where they suck the moisture out of piles of feces. doesnt matter whose. thats pretty gross, but it gets so much worse.
i present: the rat-tailed maggot
they dont belong to a specific family, rather two in the order of hoverflies as they are larvae. but they arent just any old maggot....
these dirty motherfukkers have got snorkels. they can infest human beings, when a fly lays eggs between/near your cheeks. they swim up there and stick their snorkel out to breathe. its some serious x-files shyt... like the flukeman episode from season 1... but real.
they live in stagnant water... usually. but they love pollution. they love your septic tank. they love you.
if i see some x-files shyt swimming in my toilet, im moving. that thing can probably wriggle up the porcelain and crawl right up in you.
did i mention they can stretch their tails six inches?
