1. What is a Multi?
'Multi is short for
Multiple Syllable Rhyme Scheme. Where GREAT / PLATE is an example of 1 syllable rhyming, FOOTBALL / SHOOT ALL is an example of 2 syllables.
2. Syllable Count
The syllable count is important because if it doesn't
match up, the flow is ruined. This is called a 'Broken Multi'.
With my lines I am RIPPING FOLK cause when I rap I am SPITTING IT DOPE
As you might be able to tell from reading this, the the flow is off. This is because RIPPING FOLK has 3 syllables, while SPITTING IT DOPE has 4.
With my lines I am RIPPING FOLK cause when I rap I am SPITTING DOPE
In this one, the flow is much better because the syllable count is the same.
3. Words Have To Rhyme
People often see capitals in multis and believe that is all that is important. Many will write like;
I grab a clip, get my GUNS AND BANG and that's because I always ROLL IN GANGS
This is
WRONG. In this case, ONLY 'Bang' and 'Gangs' rhyme. For it to be a correct multi, you'd need GUNS to rhyme with something.
I grab a clip, get my GUNS AND BANG and that's because I always RUN IN GANGS
This time it works because GUNS and RUN rhymes with with each other (the plural in guns doesnt really change anything when you are rapping it).
this is a quick multisyllable rhyme tutorial for u g-unit stans.
