*disclaimer this not a colorism thread :comeon:.

Well I'm taking time off from my trolling to have a discussion. :manny: Can't be joking all the time.

How were you treated for being dark skin as a child?

Did you feel more attractive or less attractive because of your complexion?

Do you think your gender plays a part?

Does it affect you as a adult?

Well for me I got jokes for my skin tone as a kid but it never really bothered me because 1. It was jokes from my friends so I knew it was love. 2. My parents did their job with teaching me self acceptance and self love. So as a kid being dark was never a issue. It seemed to me it bothered other kids more about my color because they acted like me being dark was just this big flaw :heh:. Had a dude say "you way darker than me nikka" :scust: (keep in mind he was dark also)

I feel like being dark makes me attractive because I see plenty of dark skin brehs eating in my city. Also as a kid I remember the work the goat dark skin Morris chestnut put in for us. Also i think my complexion helps my looks since I'm different looking anyway makes me more interesting.

I know being a dark male is easier than being a dark female. We just get less issues. Were not told things like were handsome for a dark dude. We are seen as masculine but that also has some draw backs because were seen as thugs and dangerous. The belief that dark males are hypermasculine is the major draw back but other than that I dont see many drawbacks. However being a dark female they recieve the masculine stereotype.

Finally as a adult my skin color is a non issue for me. I still can't understand why people have such a complex about it. Being dark is goat to me. But it seems a lot of people let the negative things they heard destroy their self worth completely. Heard people talk about bleaching even on this forum. :smh:
