The talent is undeniably there but he is so bitter and gassed off the success he has had and status he used to have and stuck in the past that he refuses to do this. Unfortunately a lot of talented people, specifically comics for some reason are in this boat. That said, he has definitely burned some bridges. I know he fukked up with Jordan Peele for no good reason, just talking out his ass. Then he found himself in an audition sitting across from the man. Dude has this delusional, immature idea in his head that the way you talk to and interact with people doesn't impact your opportunities.
Yes being a kid with all that early success might have warped his view on certain things and relationships in life. It definitely is an immature idea and he has said several times he used to get a lot of ladies due to being in better shape and MADTV and comedy but now he admits to paying for play. Which is whatever but to admit it on a public platform shows some more misunderstanding he has of the public and even his field the entertainment Industry.
It's sad about the Jordan Peele thing I heard that too from his own mouth. He says a few things about others who he might not be aware whose circle or friends they are with it seems like he is maligning himself unintentionally. I reckon an apology and new material will get him right. I do not think Vlad or his type of questions leads to any comic input it's mostly controversial.
He has his own podcast but most of his recognition now is from stand-up shows and VladTV, which shouldn't be good enough with his abilities.
It's funny because I am a big Godfrey fan. He has spoken about how his agent told him not to lean on the impressions. He told him to build his act up first and then use the impressions on top of that. Whenever I see Aries I think about that. His bread and butter was the impressions. That's how he was introduced to us as a teenager. That's the other wild part, despite how he looks and acts, he just turned 50. Dude is younger than Corey and Deray and Deon Cole and Katt etc. He was just super young when he blew.
There is this new young kid comedian Ralph Barbosa he talks about modern things and young things like hiphop. He has this stoner laid back delivery and it seems you have a pulse on comedy. Check him out if you can he has a great Biggie joke there in his set.
