Old mobile made something called lighting rods in the 80s cutlass . Manual shifting automatic. Most cars can do it but only use one shift lever for every gear
@Kasper KArr probably would know. He stays with a tranny on him.

YOU ONLY NEED THE CLUTCH FOR INITIAL GEAR. EVERY SHIFT AFTER THAT IT'S LIKE AN AUTOMATIC/MANUAL. IF I REMEMBER RIGHT ITS A 1:1 RATIO IN EVERY GEAR SO THE SHIFTING IS SEAMLESS. THE TRANS AND ENGINE RPM ARE ALWAYS MATCHED AFTER FIRST GEAR. I FORGET WHAT THEY CALL IT.

Its still an automatic transmission, he’s just maiking it shift when he wants, if he was racing the valve body would shift the transmission by itself if he stayed in the gas and did nothing elseNo clutch required?

Yeah. He's basically doing the job of the valve body. Car still has a torque converter.
