The fact that he was able to achieve this after rapping for only 36 months means that he is either a prodigy in the vein of Beethoven or Nas

Or that modern rap is so garbage that even a former stripper can do it and win a Grammy for album of the year

they need to take a look into streaming numbers and make it at least 5-10x higher numbers required to gain these plaques

as example,

Drip Too Hard a marginal fairly big single but nothing ground breaking is 5x plat :leon: impressive right

but Coolio Gangsta Paradise, easily the biggest single of 1995 is also 5x plat :usure: which was the biggest song in the entire world for multiple months :usure:

On paper, Drip Too Hard would be considered a bigger single than Coolios Gangsta Paradise? :laff: get the fukk outta here

This. Streaming numbers are fake as a $3 bill to any objectively rational person but people will say you're hating. :manny:

Thread is straight comedy though because cats took numbers from a Twitter account with 1,000 followers and just ran with them.

If you check RIAA he's short around 8x plat. I guess it's possible RIAA hasn't updated his numbers yet but it's equally possible a random guy on Twitter don't know what the fukk he's talking about.

I don't understand why fan = all logic goes out the window on The Coli. Freddie Gibbs is my favorite current gen rapper, if a random Twitter account claimed "Bandana" did 2 billion streams or some crazy shyt I'm immediately gonna call :duck:

Plus how can we be certain the people who stream a song even like it? Maybe they’re just curious to hear it and then decide it’s trash afterwards.

All this streaming shyt is suspect as hell and none of these “hits” are really moving the needle at all.
You don’t have to like it. You heard a lot of shyt on the radio you didn’t like.

:what: hearing a song on the radio in the 90s didnt contribute/count as a sale/stream, not even comparable

Now leaving Pandora or Spotify on a playlist shuffle counts towards sales now, rather you like the song or not you contributed to their sale count in some way

:patrice:

Not really understanding the logic here.

Spotify counts 30 seconds as a full stream. You could think a song is terrible by listening to 30 seconds and still contribute to an artist's over all numbers. The same cannot be said for any point in history, prior to now.

Think about all the songs you heard on the radio back in the day....switched the station because it was wack....now imagine every time that happened it counted towards an artist going gold/plat. shyt is straight lunacy breh.

Where, because I don't see it anywhere. :gucci:

The only thing I see in relation to his streams/certification is this:

4 billion streams world wide which is completely meaningless since there isn't an organization that counts world wide numbers. This is like when Young Thug got a "plaque" for 2 billion world wide streams or whatever it was, then did 35k first week. :dead:

man i don't give a fukk about none of that streaming shyt. (having to read some of the tedious shyt posted on here surrounding whichever Drake album the streaming numbers discussions started with ensured i could never care about it.) i just saw the tweet checked his IG to see if it was true (its been deleted now), thought good for him and it was just a quick an easy thread to give the boy his recognition for the good work he's put in in a small space of time. especially since he's been quiet.

i'm cool with these kids bragging about these wild streaming numbers because they'll never know what its like to shift proper units.

i'm sure you seen the desperation Khaled went through over that album shyt all for what ? 150K first week and to brag he had the Number 1 album so he could do a whole other round of promo saying he had the number 1 album. it's a joke.

while you wait for Gibbs though, be sure to check out his new single on Friday.

Streaming a song once doesn’t = 1 sale though. How many times do you stream a song before you realize you don’t like it?

If he’s doing 5x plat off a song, then that means it had to have been played millions upon millions of times.
