The types of propaganda I find disgusting come in both social and economic forms. I find it troubling when people spread hate about others just because of their sexual orientation, and the hate against feminists (such as Rush Limbaugh's "feminazi" term). With regards to the sexual orientation one, I ask this: who cares if a person is gay or not? Being gay doesn't make somebody a bad person or a pervert. It won't impact my life if two men or two ladies get married. Live and let live!
With regards to feminism, I think it has a bad rap. Most people seem under-informed about it, and believe that feminism is about hating men and taking our rights away, but that's false. It is pretty much based on Marxism. What it does is critique the gender imbalance when it comes to economic opportunities and women not having some of their social rights recognized. It's about a level playing field among the gender binary.
I also find it troubling when members of America's political right-wing act as if poor people live such lavish lifestyles (throwing around terms such as "welfare queens" and "moochers"). Nobody likes being poor, and even when receiving money from the feds, it's not enough to fully equip oneself with basic necessities. If I had the chance, I'd rather be rich and pay higher taxes than to be poor. Unfortunately, many lower-income people in this country have bought in to this type of thinking, so they basically vote against their economic interests as more people get elected who want to cut the safety net. They look at socialism as a 4-letter word (in many cases being unaware of what socialism means), and they have more distrust and contempt towards other ordinary people than towards the true welfare queens up at the top.
