It depends on the situation, I can relate to the thought process of someone like Pac, Jay or Ice Cube, but I can't relate to them if they talk about themselves.

I can relate to situations Kanye, Cole, 3 stacks, Cudi, Wiz, Drake have described about their lives and avg rappers like Childish Gambino, Wale..

Listening to Joey Badass got me thinking back to my HS days..

Nas and Pac :myman:

To a certain extent Jay, on "what we talking about" but from a different prospective though.

And a bunch of other rappers on certain songs, but Nas and Pac I can relate to regularly.

Lupe and Joe Budden gets a honorable mentions as well :win:

It varies but like homie above said, Cube and Pac's social and political outlook are right up my alley. Chuck D and KRS too but at a lesser extent. Budden's mental state resonates with me as I've dealt with depression and anxiety. Some days it can be overwhelming but I've learned not to give a fukk. That said, Redman, Em, MC Eiht, and especially Nas seem like kinfolk to me when my attitude goes crooked. Kendrick reminds me of my high school years. Trying to navigate and do my own thing despite close friends hustling, banging, all the while wanting to smash every girl with braids, makeup, and knee high boots. And I had a strict religious upbringing, so I had what seemed like multiple lives going on and they all were vying for prominence. I'm probably a decade older than Kendrick Lamar, but I feel him.
