I'm a meek mill fan and literally no one is talking about him rapping biggie lyrics. He had some hype but it's not enough to keep his album afloat all the way down the line. It's still on the billboard top 200 so you can't say it flopped. I think you're overestimating meek mill considering it's his most successful album.

No one talks about the biggie lyrics though. Trust me I've invested hundreds of hours talking about meek mill on the internet. The album did well enough. Your original quote was "DWMTM should still be hitting right now". Do you mean it should still be a huge album till this day? Because it did good for a rapper on the level of meek mill. Keep in mind that a lot of 2015 albums aren't still popping till today.

It's smart. He has hype for the tape, and he didn't need to drop an official single. He did a bunch of remixes, but still. Meek isn't about to drop a Ready To Die or a Blueprint on us most likely, but if there's anyone who knows how to make bangers, it's the Maybach Music camp. Bangers + Summer weather = good times for every body. He himself would know, seeing as how he was on the receiving end of it last year.
