On a bus back to NYC....i was so sad to see what happened to the Burgh

The city is not growing at all.
Saw so many boarded up houses and closed down businesses...
When our bus left at 12:00 this afternoon through downtown....it was damn near empty...no one out on the streets. I know its christmas holiday but...
:wow:

I knew alot of people moved out but its really obvious now.

Its not like Pittsburgh is expensive either...you can still find an apartment or rent a house with 2 bedrooms for 750 a month....

No one wants to live there...there are no jobs. Good luck getting anybody to move or build in the Hill...the shyt is finished. Its like now the only young people there go to school and leave once they graduate.

Shadow lounge and Ava...gone.
East Liberty is gentrified...might as well call it new shadyside.
720 records? Gone.
That huge shopping complex that had Borders and stuff on centre...is pretty much a memory.

The only shopping mall still standing is Ross Park Mall. Monroeville Mall is on life support. Century 3 is a memory. Parkway Mall is dead. Northway mall is now something else. North hills Village is a shadow of what it used to be.

All of the places i used to hang out at when I was younger? GONE.

How is money made there? Has not bee the steel city for the longest time. Many famous boxers came from there as well as artist Andy Warhol (I believe there is a museum of his there)

Its the holiday man. Downtown Pittsburgh is still quite busy on non holidays at noon. I believe Pitt Uni. and some other folks got plans for the Hill similar to East Liberty.

Yeah....ive noticed Duquesne has been expanding in the Hill. College students living there. Back in the day that was the neighborhood you stayed away from.

Sounds like the same thing that happened to Buffalo...Both cold miserable, racist places I'm sure

The rust belt is dying. People have been moving out of Western PA and to Southeastern PA towards Philly, Lancaster, and West Chester. I dont see the trend reversing itself anytime soon.

I went back to visit my family after two years back in December of last year and the shyt just felt like a gigantic sundown town.
All the Trump, MAGA, Blue Lives Matter Flags everywhere...it was all dark and dreary and wet too. It kind of felt scary but moreso it just felt really depressing.
The population seemed to get older while more young people left.
They turned where the Trader Horn used to be by my family's crib into a gigantic retirement home.
Infact, it seems the retirement home business is booming in Pittsburgh now.

Damn I went to school there but haven't been back in like 10 years. Back then they were saying it's getting "hipsterfied" and a lot of young people were moving there cuz its cheap. I guess that never happened

Shout out to Shadow Lounge/Ava tho. That was like the only place to kick it in Grad School...

I used to DJ at the Shadow Lounge and had a brief residency at AVA back in 2008.
