I was called this by a 50 yr old Grandmother one day because I was explaining her the benefits of a carb load on a cyclinical ketogenic diet. She then went on talking about women weight and fluctuations...I countered by saying doesn't matter. If you are carb depleted and keto adapted 1 day of carb loading will cause you to gain weight back. She called, "This mansplaining."

Basically what white people do to black people by condescending, but coming from men in general and directed at women. It's loosely related to the phrase "gaslighting".

I think there is a version of this concept for every marginalized group , from their corresponding privileged group. And in all such cases of "splaining", the privileged group pretends to be oblivious of what they are doing.

Basically if you are speaking to a woman who has bought into 4th wave feminism you are manplaining. I got reprimanded by my professor over explaining the definition of a word during a philosophy debate, this was 9 years agoBeen cautious of how to speak to women I work with or in public ever since.
