Laminated posters are more durable than paper posters.
Get platic trash bins AND GARBAGE BAGS THAT FIT THE BINS. One bin for each room.
Get disposable cleaning gloves. Packs of 30+ pairs will prevent you from touch filth left behind by the previous occupant while you clean.
Ya need a bagless shark navigator vacuum if renting a carpeted space. Area rugs + hardwood == better.
Get over-the-door towel/coat racks for bathroom & bedroom.
An over-the-toilet set of metal shelves from Kmart & a shower caddy will save bathroom space.

Don't forget Toilet Paper and plunger! and if you plan on cooking, get those big cooking utensils and some foil. You can do everything with foil if you don't have any pots&pans yet.
