After the Screwjob Bret was the biggest attraction in wrestling everyone was talking about it and wanted to see what he was gonna do next. WWF handed WCW a hot attraction and WCW had to take advantage of this situation. They should've had Sting get laid out backstage make it look real brutal thrown thru glass and rushed to the hospital. Everyone would assume that it was the nwo that attacked Sting. The nwo and Hogan denies the attack on Sting and JJ Dillion comes out and says he should strip Hogan of the title but someone volunteered to take String's place at Starrcade and he has accepted the match. Out comes Bret Hart he gets face to face with Hogan and this set's up Hogan vs Bret at Starrcade for the belt. Bret wins the title and comes out next night on nitro and says he never lost his previous championship so he's the champ of both company's and is the best. Bret goes on a mini run beating Macho Man then he faces Nash at Superbrawl Bret had great chemistry with both guys and they would've been classic matches. After Bret defeats Nash, Sting comes down from the rafters and attacks Bret from behind nobody knows why. Next night on Nitro they ask Sting to explain himself and he points to the video screen and security footage plays of Bret being the one that attacked Sting so he could get the world title shot. This leads to Sting vs heel Bret for the world title.
