When X came out, our entire class went to the theater as a field trip to support the movie.
I mentioned before back on SOHH my school did the same thing. I'm assuming it was common in schools that were mostly black.

If they can bombared R Kelly about his past how come white reporters never ask Ice Cube about this song??
Why do you think that Cube is given a pass from his militant past by the same people that he used to rally against?
Cube not being marginalized or black-balled as an anti-white racist=given a pass. Him being asked about his pro-black/anti-white lyrics in the past doesn't negate that. Being given a pass doesn't mean that he hasn't caught any backlash over the damn near 30 year career. The fact that he's not blackballed is proof that he's been given a pass. Dude sold out. It is what it is. You don't hold any weight tryna argue with me on this either, for obvious reasons. He wasn't given a pass, and he was asked about this song and others.
Around 25 years ago.
Cube had everyone from Billboard to politicians coming at him. People boycotting his music, telling his label to drop him.
As I mentioned earlier in the thread Rolling Stone magazine even flat out asked him "do you hate white people?"
He was too popular to sink at the time. So eventually all that died down. So somebody bringing up this song in 2015 ain't gonna do anything. It's been a dead topic since the early 90's.
R. Kelly still gets hit with questions because his situation happened a lot more recently, and it was a part of mainstream media. Dave Chapelle was clowning him for fukks sake. He'll probably never completely live that down.

I loved it. Songs like this are reasons a can't take a rapper like kendrick serious with his faux militant records. Was watching the movie Higher Learning and was reminded of this song (off topic: in the movie Higher Learning Ice Cube and Busta resemble a grown up version of Huey and Riley...add Regina King and one wonders where the inspiration for the Boondocks characters actually came from)
My thoughts were the same reason why Barack Obama abandoned Jeremiah Wright his pastor of 20 years when he was running for president. Because what Jeremiah Wright was saying was one of those things that Black people talk about behind closed doors....we dont say it outside the doors and President Obama wasn't going to explain all of that...he figured it was just better to abandon ship. So for Ice Cube to say it outside the doors....it became an "Oh snap he went there" moment. Right on the heels of the Malcolm X movie, the 5% influence in my neighborhood, Farrakhan being at his prime and overhearing how the elders talked I was actually convinced that white folks were the devil...LOL.... I felt that mindstate was where Black males in America should be. I also thought the song was harsh because one of my favorite cousins mom was white and she was the nicest person on the planet. This is the influence that Hip Hop once had on the psyche...That influence no longer exists. "Cave b*tch" had me confused about racial bounderies at the age of 15. Ice Cube was one of the top rappers in 93. Kanye and Kendrick are top rappers in 2013 but I cant see them making a song like "Cave B*tch."
I'm not in the business of trying to "hold weight" with strangers on message boards.
Cube has already answered virtually any question you could think of, concerning his lyrics. They tried to black ball him, and it failed.
He weathered the storm and moved on to doing movies and mostly went the indie route with his music. If you're asking why nobody boycotted "Are We There Yet" over some shyt he wrote 20+ years ago....because nobody cares any more. But the shyt you're asking why didn't they do....they tried to do from every angle. Maybe you're too young to remember, I dunno.
Regardless, if you want to say "he sold out", or some conspiracy about how white people bought him off....
Fred.
