What would it take for you to respect acts like Riff-Raff, Mac Miller

Let's say you had to give them a chance. What type of content and music do you want from these guys? If you were the executive producer of their album and oversaw the complete project what would your plan be?


I'm going to categorize white rappers as

Asher Roth & Macklemore - pop stratosphere, what would you want from these guys . . what do you expect from them?

Riff-Raff, Mac Miller - comical, charismatic with some drug content . . probably not on the path toward a breakout radio hit, but could easily maintain a strong fan base

MGK, Yelawolf, that white kid from Orlando with Cash Money - more edgy, "tough guy" types . . lyrically inclined and ready to talk street content

Riff-Raff has his own style and he's pushing it forward, you've gotta respect that even if his music isn't for you.

Macklemore is a talented rapper putting out top charting pop songs, you gotta respect that . . in fact "Thrift Shop" isn't far off from songs like "Hi, My Name Is", "Real Slim Shady" - "Bezerk" which helped build Eminem's career

When we're talking business Macklemore is #1 for the value of his brand's music - but Riff-Raff makes a brand of music that is easily enjoyable in this era, likely so just as enjoyable to people who don't listen to rap

Yelawolf just needs to stick with the Trunk Muzik style, that EP he did with DJ Paul was dope, MGK there's just something about him that strikes me as fake, i got Lace Up mixtape early & tried it but i can't fukk with it.

I don't think i could ever listen to Macklemore just like i can't listen to Drake just corny, Asher Roth fits in the same category. i don't care if they have the technical ability of Jay Electronica & Pharoahe Monch put together, if it's corny shyt like how Drake is always pretending to be hard then i can't fux with it.
