Great book for a fan or a hater, I heard that the other duke from Forbes who wrote a book by Jay is dope as well.. I even heard that it moved more units than Jays own book

I give the book 3 mics in general, 1 extra mic for the dope pictures and all that, great ass coffee table book.
So overall it gets maybe 4.5 mics for what it is a coffee table book extending the meaning behind Jay-z's music with decoding sections, stories and pictures but not his actual life. So it's not really autobiographical, but it was cool as fukk for what it was.

I haven't gotten around to it yet, but I have the E-Book. Looked like a good read from what I have of it. Has Nas every written anything breaking down the process behind Illmatic?

Damn good read for hip hp fans, especially if you like hearing the backstory about songs, lyrics, and concepts. made me appreciate his catalog alot more

Pretty much summed up...

The book was originally going to be his Auto-biography with help from the same author Dream Hampton. It was going to come out the same time as The Black Album and it was going to be called The Black Book.

It was going to be the book where he really opened up about his personal life. He was gonna talk about his family, Tai Tai, his relationship with Beyonce, the beef with Nas, etc.

However, after Hov read the finished product he changed his mind about releasing it to the public ...it was TOO personal...so instead he did Decoded.
