The "drought" only really effects people with one console. If you have multiple consoles you should have more than enough games to play, especially if you dont mind indies. I'm hoping to get through my backlog before the next wave of releases hits.

But yeah I also cosign that a lot of smaller and mid size devs went out of business last gen. That was one of the things I really hated about the transition to HD. A lot of the creativity also went out the window cause higher development costs mean a lot of games tend to play it safe.

If you include indies, 2013 was better than that 98 list in my opinion. Already 2014 is looking pretty good too:

Jan/Feb:
  • Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
  • The Banner Saga
  • Broken Age Act I
  • Octodad
  • Outlast
  • Wolf Among Us Ep 2
  • Bravely Default
  • Jazzpunk
  • OlliOlli
  • TxK
  • Dustforce (non-PC release)

March has:
  • Southpark
  • Titanfall
  • Dark Souls II
  • Infamous
  • MGSV: Ground Zeroes
  • Yoshi's New Island

Rest of 2014 potentially has:
  • Child of Light
  • Mario Kart 8
  • Destiny
  • Watch Dogs
  • Bayonetta 2
  • Evolve
  • Hotline Miami 2
  • Persona 5
  • MGSV
  • X
  • Binding of Isaac Rebirth
  • The Order: 1886
  • Witcher 3
  • The Witness
  • The Division
  • Rest of Walking Dead Season 2
  • Rest of Wolf Among Us
  • Super Smash Bros
  • Yarn Yoshi
  • Elder Scrolls Online
  • Below
  • Super Time Force
  • Hyper Light Drifter
:scusthov: at that struggle list. But Personas 5 might change a nikka lifestyle breh :whew:

Your list included Mario Party 3, Dark Omen, Roll Away, Game Boy Camera and Spyro :stopitslime:

And if there weren't enough games in 2013 to keep you busy for a full year than maybe your interest has become very narrow and you're just not much of a gamer anymore.:yeshrug:

Spyro is a classic breh. Mario Party ended so many friendships back in the day.
Might be the case, I try to play new shyt but most of it seem like rehashes to me.
Ain't Bayonetta and devil may cry the same game?
Almost all FPS play the same and bring absolutely nothing new to the table........oh yea better graphics.
shyt has become so stale that I keep buying the same game every year (Nba2k, Fifa).

Games aren't innovative anymore

I would not call Bayonetta the same game as DMC. They're in the same genre. Turok 2 is definitely more derivative than anything on my list. Tekken 3 is also not the same game as Tekken 2.
Mario Party 1 was a classic. Mario Party 2 was really good too. Mario Party 3 added nothing new.
Spryo is not better than Donkey Kong Country.
Out of the many games I listed, I listed maybe 5 that are a shooter of some sort and most of those def have their hooks:
  • Titanfall - if you've ever liked shooters at all, you should probably be excited for this. Seminal shooter from gods in the genre, Zampella and West with an additional hook of mechs.
  • Destiny - Yeah this is an FPS but it's also a cooperative action RPG. Also the first new IP from Bungie in forever
  • Evolve - The makers of Left 4 Dead creating an innovative 4v1 multiplayer shooter. 4 people play in a team fighting a monster, one person controls the monster.
  • The Division - This isn't in first person but it is a shooter. Still, it's practically an MMO shooter. I don't know of another game like this one.
  • The Order: 1886 - I don't know enough about this game, so it may indeed be very derivative. I'll give you this one. Everything else is interesting.

And my dude, you can't complain about innovation when I listed Octodad, Outlast, Below, Super Time Force, Wolf Among Us, Child of Light, OlliOlli, Banner Saga and X.

Survival of the fittest
You have mere minutes of life left in the time stream of infinity, yet you choose to devote incredible amounts of time twiddling your thumbs over plastic buttons rather than embracing your loved ones.

I remember as a youngin new piff was droppin left and right every month.
there hasn't been a game i've been hyped for since september to be honest. (last one being GTA 5).
The only games i'm hyped about are South Park and Metal Gear Solid dropping next month.
then after that it's dry season again.
