What's a good city to settle in once you've became successful

If I had a lot of money I'd be in Tokyo, Netherlands, Dubai... If this is limited to the US then

SF,NY, Seattle would be my only choices... I already live in SF, but to be rich in this city would be

Probably won't be leaving Northern VA

I'll settle out in the 'burbs towards Ashburn, VA. But possibly closer, Arlington, VA or McLean, VA.

Once you've got enough money to purchase a mansion,high class cars etc.

Successful and rich are two different things. You can be a successful person and not be rich. That's a side note and different discussion.

I get what you are saying, if you become filthy rich, where would you live? I mean, whether I invented a fully functional fart filter, found the cure for cancer, or something that would earn me a lot of money, I would buy a small mountain in Vermont or New Hampshire and build a house on top of it. Why?
1. Rock is solid. I don't have to worry about sinkholes of Florida, mudslides in California or earthquakes. I would have to deal with snowstorms.
2. I would have a full view of everything below so security would be much easier.
3. Don't have to deal with ghetto neighbors asking me for a cup of brown sugar. It's like go buy your own sugar.
